The Month of October
The month of October begins with Mercury square Jupiter, when ideas and plans become grandiose. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto continue with their minor grad-trine formation and the global landscape keeps shifting with policies that are revolutionary, surprising, and unexpected.
On the 1st of October, Mercury is square Jupiter, so there’s an attempt to understand complex ideas and plans, and keeping a clear and balanced sense of proportion can be challenging. It’s a time to expand and broaden knowledge, but there’s also a need for some caution and circumspection when it comes to drawing final conclusions. Don’t get lost in detail or be too content with the broadest of generalizations.
On the 2nd of October Venus forms a sesquiquadrate aspect to Pluto, so personal relationships contend with a greater intensity than usual. This may either deepen the experience of the connection or it may manifest as an element of controlling behaviour within the relationship.
Mercury forms a quincunx aspect to Saturn on Sunday the 5th of October. There’s some restraint and inhibition in communication here. Practical painstaking mental work and clarifying the details of mutual duties and obligations.
The full moon on the 7th of October occurs at 14 degrees Aries. On the same day Mercury is square Pluto and quincunx both Uranus and Neptune. This seems to speak of extraordinary news and information and a deep delving or research into unusual topics.
On Wednesday the 8th of October Venus forms a sextile to Jupiter describing friendships, fellowship and celebrations. There’s tolerance and generosity in personal relationships.
Then Venus arrives at an opposition to Saturn on Saturday the 11th of October, and this paints a picture of obstacles, restrictions or inhibitions in personal relationships.
On the 14th of September Venus reaches an opposition aspect to Neptune along with trine aspects to both Uranus and Pluto. Romantic and other personal relationships are mystical or beguiling, and also prone to sudden and intense shifts. On Friday the 17th of October the Sun is square Jupiter which makes for grand gestures and bold optimistic actions.
On Sunday the 19th of October the Sun is quincunx Saturn, which is somewhat duty-bound. Work related obligations can limit freedom and feel tedious and onerous. In fact the New Moon of 21 October at 28 degrees Libra arguably reiterates this theme, since the Sun and Moon will then both be quincunx Saturn.
Mercury forms a trine to Jupiter on Friday the 24th of September, and then a trine to Saturn on Saturday the 25th, so there’s a Mercury-Jupiter-Saturn grand trine towards the end of the week. Discussions are serious and practical, but also expansive and visionary.
Meticulous planning of big projects. Important agreements and decisions are made. The Sun is also square Pluto (and opposite the Uranus-Neptune midpoint) on the 24th of September which shows intensely focussed and purposeful exertion of energy. Challenges are confronted head-on, but there may be some elements in the situation that are veiled or obscured.
Mars forms a trine to Jupiter on Tuesday the 28th of September, and this gives almost boundless creative energy and vitality. There’s a can-do spirit and an enthusiastic pursuit of goals. All of this is conducive to “luck” and success. Righteous causes are espoused and defended. Mercury is trine Neptune on Wednesday the 29th of September, communication is subtle and nuanced, elusive ideas are eloquently articulated, thinking is abstract and intuitive. Spiritual or poetic literature.
Then Mercury forms an opposition to Uranus and sextile to Pluto on the following day. Sudden and surprising news pops up, novel subjects and highly technical information become fascinating. A very rapid pace and tempo in communication, so it may be hard to keep track of everything.
